Symantec Firewall and AntiVirus Software Downloads
Cornell University has signed a site license with Symantec to provide Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP), Symantec Client Security (SCS), and Norton AntiVirus (NAV) to the entire campus community. The license allows the stand-alone antivirus clients to be used on:
- All University-owned computers
- Home computers of staff and faculty
- Computers owned by registered students
Please note that copies of this software installed on personally-owned machines must be removed once you are no longer affiliated with Cornell. You can only use this software while you are a registered student or a current employee. This software is licensed by Cornell University and you are granted a temporary right to use it on your own system while you are an active member of the Cornell community. Downloading this software implies your consent to the above terms and conditions.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have any firewall or antivirus software installed on your computer, you must uninstall it first to avoid problems when you use Cornell's site-licensed software.
Standalone SEP Client Installer Symantec Endpoint Protection does not provide a mechanism for pre-configuring the Firewall component for un-managed clients. By default, it does not block network traffic for un-managed clients and if you do configure it to block network traffic, it does not automatically prompt for permission to Allow or Deny network access to an application. Because of these limitations this installer only installs the antivirus portion of SEP. For more information, and how to work with Vista's firewall please see these instructions.
Standalone SCS Client Installer This is the current standalone installer for Symantec Client Security. It will install both Symantec AntiVirus and Symantec Client Firewall onto your system, and will install a firewall ruleset modified for the Cornell environment if an existing SCS installation is not found.
Standalone SAV/NAV Client Installers These are the current versions of SAV/NAV that are supported at Cornell University. Click on the link that is appropriate for your operating system:
Administrative Tools Departments that wish to run a managed setup will need to download the entire distribution to get the administration tools. These tools are found on the Symantec Client Security Downloads page.
