Installing VPN

To use VPN with Cornell campus networks and services, you must use the Cornell Cisco VPN software.

If you have used another VPN service, you must uninstall it before you install and use the Cornell Cisco VPN software.

Warning: If you do not uninstall your previous VPN client before you install the Cornell software, you may not be able to connect to the Internet at all.

Using VPN outside the United States: If you plan to take VPN out of the country on a computer or plan to download it while abroad, be aware that the US Department of Commerce has restricted the export of cryptographic software. The use of VPN is illegal in any of the following countries: Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria.

If your computer has Cisco VPN software version 4.0 or higher, you can continue to use it by adding Cornell's configuration file. Select your operating system, below, to add the customized Cornell file.

If you do not have any VPN software on your computer, begin by selecting your operating system, below.

NOTE: A 64-bit VPN client is not available from Cisco. CIT is exploring secure remote access alternatives for users of Windows 64-bit edition operating systems. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
