To use VPN with Cornell campus networks and services, you must use Cisco VPN software with an additional configuration (PCF) file installed.
- To install Cisco VPN software for the first time, follow the Installing Cisco VPN Software procedure.
- To continue using Cisco VPN software version 4.0 or higher, add the correct configuration file:
VPN outside the United States: If you plan to take VPN out of the country on a computer or plan to download it while abroad, be aware that the US Department of Commerce restricts the export of cryptographic software. Using VPN is illegal in: Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria.
Installing Cisco VPN Software
- If you have used other VPN software, uninstall it before you install the Cisco VPN software.
Warning: If you do not uninstall your previous VPN software before you install the Cisco version, you may not be able to connect to the Internet at all.
- Download the installer:
- Double-click the installer, macvpn.dmg.

- Double-click Cisco VPN Client.mpkg.

- You will be asked to allow the software run a utility to make sure your Mac is running Mac OS X 10.4. Click Continue.

- On the Client Software License Agreement screen, read through the license agreement. Click I accept the license agreement, and then click Next.

- Follow the onscreen instructions.
The Cisco VPN software is now installed. Next, add the correct configuration file:
