Connecting to Campus with VPN

To use VPN with Cornell campus networks and services, you must use the Cornell Cisco VPN software. If you need to install either the Cornell configuration file or the VPN software, go to the Installing VPN page.

Connecting with Windows XP or 2000

Connecting with Windows Vista (32-bit only)

Connecting with Mac OS X v. 10.4 or Higher

NOTE: A 64-bit VPN client is not available from Cisco. CIT is exploring secure remote access alternatives for users of Windows 64-bit edition operating systems. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

 

Connecting with VPN using Windows XP or 2000

  1. Click Start, then All Programs, select Cisco Systems VPN Client and then VPN Client.
  2. Click the Connect icon.

  3. You will be prompted for your NetID and NetID password. This is case-sensitive.

    • The VPN Client window will close. If the VPN icon in your taskbar is a locked padlock (as shown here), you are now connected through the Cornell VPN client.

Connecting with VPN using Windows Vista (32-bit only)

  1. From the Go menu, select Applications and then VPN Client.
  2. Click the Connect icon.

  3. You will be prompted for your NetID and NetID password. This is case-sensitive.
    • If you do not receive an error message, you are now connected through the Cornell VPN client.
    • If you received an error message, go to the Getting Help with VPN page.
