What are Sun's x64 Servers? - AMD or Intel based servers, also known as x86-64 bit based systems.

  • Currently we support the AMD Opteron processor offering.
  • Supports 32/64-bit computing, also high-performance x64 bit computing.

CoolThreads Servers-UltraSPARC T2 Plus, T2 and T1

What are Sun's CoolThread Servers? - Servers based on Sun's UltraSPARC T1, T2, and T2 Plus processor.

  • Get the highest throughput with up to 128 simultaneous threads, 16 cores in 1RU or 2RU.
  • Ideal for multi-threaded apps, eco-conscious options, web infrastructure, network applications, security.
  • Advantages - Delivers world-record performance, as well as groundbreaking energy and space efficiency.
  • Solaris 10 operating system supported.

SPARC Enterprise Servers-SPARC64-VI

What are SPARC Enterprise Servers? - The fastest SPARC/Solaris OS servers, bringing mainframe-class availability and partitioning to the open systems market.

  • The new SPARC64 VI processor consists of two SPARC V9 cores with two vertical threads per core.
  • This multicore/multithreaded processor delivers up to 1.6 times the performance of the 1.8GHz UltraSPARC IV+ processor used in comparable Sun Fire systems.
  • Ideal for web tier environments, large-scale enterprise applications, mission-critical complex applications.
  • Solaris 10 only.

IBM/Intel - Windows and Linux RedHat Enterprise 5 (32 and 64 bit)

  • IBM System x3650 Server Line (model 7979-<###>): Low-end to mid-range server, minimum system recommended for mission-critical services. Price starts around $4500.

  • Maximum configuration:
    • Two quad-core Xeon CPUs (8 core total)
    • Optional AMD Processor in System x3655 Line
    • 48 GB RAM
    • 2 built-in PCI-E slots and two PCI-E or PCI-X slots via riser card
    • 2U high (see What is a "U"?)

  • IBM System x3850 Server Line (Model 8864-<###>): High-end server, minimum system recommended for mission-critical services, databases and CPU intensive applications, server consolidation, virtualization. Starting Price: $6,500.

  • Maximum configuration:
    • Quad CPUs, dual-core Intel Xeon Processor 7040
    • Optional AMD Processor in System x3855 Line
    • 64 GB RAM
