Connect to the Server Farm VPN Using a Cisco VPN Client and Windows XP
- If you need to install the Cisco VPN client, see Downloading and Installing the Cisco VPN Client.
- If you've already installed the Cisco client, follow the steps in Connecting to the Server Farm VPN Using the Cisco Client and Windows XP.
Note: If you have another VPN client installed, you need to uninstall it before you install the Cisco client.
Downloading and Installing the Cisco VPN Client
- Close all your windows and applications, except this one.
- Connect to \\citfs\software\Windows\ServerFarm VPN, and then copy the folder Instructions and Programs for Cisco VPN to your desktop.
- On your desktop, double-click the folder Instructions and Programs for Cisco VPN, and then double-click the folder vpnclient-win-msi-5.0.00.00340-k9.
- Double-click vpnclient_setup.exe.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- At the Client Software License Agreement screen, read through the license
agreement and then click I accept the license agreement.

- Click Next.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. This process may take a few minutes.
- When the installer has finished, click Finish.

- You'll be prompted to restart your computer. Click Yes.

Once your computer is restarted, you're ready to connect. Follow the steps in in Connecting to the Server Farm VPN Using the Cisco Client and Windows XP.

Connecting to the Server Farm VPN Using the Cisco Client and Windows XP
- Click Start, then All Programs, select Cisco Systems VPN Client and then VPN Client.
- If you don't see the ServerFarmVPN-TCP or ServerFarmVPN-UDP in the list of connection choices, you need to add the Server Farm VPN configuration file. Follow the steps in in Adding the Server Farm VPN Configuration File and then continue with Step 3.
- Select ServerFarmVPN-TCP or ServerFarmVPN-UDP and then click Connect. Both connect to the Server Farm VPN. If the first is unavailable, try the second.

- Enter your NetID and your CITSTAFF password. They are case-sensitive.
Note: Your CITSTAFF password should not be the same as your NetID password.
The Server Farm VPN Client window will close. If the Server Farm VPN icon in your taskbar is a locked padlock (as shown here), you are now connected.
- To disconnect your VPN connection, in the Task Bar, right-click the VPN connection icon and then click, Disconnect.

Adding the ServerFarm Configuration File
- If necessary, click Start, then All Programs, select Cisco Systems VPN Client and then VPN Client.
- Click Import.

- Find the ServerFarm VPN PCF files. They are in the vpnclient-win-msi-5.0.00.00340-k9 folder which should still be on your desktop in the Instructions and Programs for Cisco VPN folder.
- Select ServerFarmVPN-TCP, and then click Open.

- In the window that says the import was successful, click OK.
- Repeat steps 2-5 for the ServerFarmVPN-UDP file.
- Continue with step 3 in Connecting to the Server Farm VPN Using the Cisco Client and Windows XP.
Note: If you can't find the correct folder, connect to \\citfs\software\Windows\CIT VPN, and then copy the folder Instructions and Programs for Cisco VPN to your desktop.
