Creating a New E-list

List Creation Policy
(as of 9/02/2005)

Creation of new offerings under this service is restricted to lists that support instruction, research, administration, or other recognized University activities. Cornell organizations, including fraternities and other registered student activities, are eligible for this service. Requests for lists that fall outside these criteria will also be considered, but their approval is not guaranteed.

In the case of student-requested lists, approval by a faculty or staff member is required. For example, if the list is for a registered student organization, the approval should be from the faculty advisor for the organization.

If you wish to request a list but are not sure whether it meets the above requirements, send a description of the proposed list, including the topic of discussion and the anticipated subscriber community, to listmgr@cornell.edu for clarification on the list's eligibility.
