Cornell Log

A tool for tracking your network traffic

Cornell's fees for using the network include a usage, or WAN (NUBB) fee. This fee provides unlimited use of the Cornell campus network and up to 5 GB (gigabytes) of off-campus traffic (via Internet or Internet 2). For more information, please visit our Network Rates pages.

If your off-campus traffic (via Internet or Internet 2) exceeds 5 GB in a month, you will be charged a fee of $0.0015 per megabyte of additional traffic(which is the equivalent of $1.50 per additional gigabyte).

Cornell Log is an application that makes it easy to monitor and control your Internet activity. Whether you're using Firefox, Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, AOL, or any Internet-enabled program, Cornell Log monitors all of your computer's web site visits, e-mail that is sent and received, file transfers, chatroom sessions, videoconferencing, and all web activity.

Note: it is possible that the totals tracked by Cornell Log may not exactly match the NUBB interface. Please be aware that NUBB is the official record for billing purposes.

For this application to be generally useful, it needs to be running whenever you have access to the Cornell network. The installer for the Windows version will give you the option of having Cornell Log launch every time you computer starts; we recommend that you accept this option and leave it running whenever your computer is turned on. Instructions for having the Macintosh version start automatically can be found on the Cornell Log Macintosh page.
