redrover (alias: wireless)
Red Rover is Cornell University's wireless network service, available to the Cornell community and its guests. You can use your laptop or PDA equipped with a Wi-Fi compliant device to connect to the network to surf the web, send and receive e-mail, and perform other network tasks. RedRover supports three wireless networks:
RedRover is offered to members of the Cornell community who have a Cornell University NetID. RedRover provides access to many of the Cornell network programs and services.
RedRover-Guest is offered to guests of the university - visiting faculty, parents and friends - who do not have a Cornell University NetID. RedRover-Guest provides a limited set of RedRover services such Web access, commercial e-mail services, instant messaging (AIM and ICQ), file transfer protocol (FTP) and VPN (Virtual Private Network).
RedRover-Secure is offered to members of the Cornell community who have a Cornell University NetID and provides encryption for the wireless portions of data transmission, offering a much greater degree of privacy than RedRover.
