Antivirus: Windows: Uninstall

You can only use Cornell's license for antivirus while you are a registered student or current faculty or staff member. If your affiliation with Cornell ends, you must remove this software from any computers you own.

You may also need to remove previous versions of antivirus software before installing a newer version.

Uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection for Windows

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

   

2. Click Add or Remove Programs.

   

3. In the list of programs, click Symantec Endpoint Protection.
   If you are uninstalling a different version of the application, the name may be slightly different.

4. Click Remove.

   

5. Click Yes or Yes to all when prompted.

   

6. Click the Close Box to close the Add or Remove Programs window.

   

7. Reboot your computer if you plan to install a new version of the antivirus software.

Note: If you're having trouble with Symantec's Antivirus or LiveUpdate software, the solution may be to remove all traces of the software. This is a more thorough procedure than the steps listed here. For more information, see Complete Uninstall of Antivirus Software.
