Outreach and Governance

IT-Security-L and the IT Security SIG

Regular Cornell staff in IT roles who have an interest in campus security can join it-security-l, a closed, members-only e-list.  Subscription requests may be sent to security-services@cornell.edu.  Please include your department and some indication of your role there.

Subscribers to this list are also eligible to participate in the IT Security SIG (Special Interest Group), and automatically get access to the Security SIG Confluence space.

Activedir-L and the Active Directory SIG

The Active Directory SIG (Special Interest Group) meets monthly to address topics of interest to IT staff, both within CIT and elsewhere around campus, who manage some aspect of Active Directory services.  Materials from past meetings are posted to the Active Directory SIG Confluence space.

CIT maintains a discussion list for the group, activedir-l. To subscribe send a message containing the word "join" to activedir-l-request@cornell.edu.

The Identity Management Developers Forum

On a quarterly basis, the Identity Management team meets with campus developers to foster two-way communications about the use of CIT’s identity management services. The meetings are an opportunity for campus developers to make CIT aware of ways the Identity Management program can better assist them in their efforts to provide their users with secure access to online information.

Upcoming meetings are announced to the net-admin-l discussion list.  Materials from past meetings are posted to identity.cit.cornell.edu/devmeet.

The IT Security Council

The IT Security Council works in collaboration with the IT Security Office to promote good campus security practices.  This body is also responsible for the development and maintenance of Cornell's IT Security Requirements.

The Security Council is comprised of liaisons from each of the major campus units, as specified in Policy 5.4.1, Security of Information Technology Resources.  Here is a list of the current Unit Security Liaisons.
