Network Registry

University IT Policy 5.7

Cornell's Network Registry policy, effective June 3, 2004, requires all devices (including wireless hubs and switches) connected to the network to be registered in a continuously updated central network registry maintained by CIT. The decentralized network management model at Cornell requires a phased implementation of this policy; subnets that are not behind a firewall or network address translator (NAT) are expected to move toward compliance with the policy as tools to support this effort become available.

This set of web pages describes the registry service and the responsibilities of both network administrators and users under this policy.
