Your Individual Bill

  • Are NUBB charges included?

Not at this time. CIT plans to add products and services under this unified billing umbrella.

  • I'm having problems downloading my bill.

We've had some technical issues since the print documents were distributed, and for that we apologize. The best way to download your bill is to view it (by clicking on the report title) then use your PDF viewer software to save it.

  • What services are included?

See our list of services page.

  • Can I get information in real-time, for example, a call that was placed yesterday?

No. Billing and reporting take place in monthly chunks.

  • I don't have a Reporting tab, so I can't get to any reports other than my own bill. Why?

See our Getting Access page.

  • What browsers can I use?

Please see our Browsers page for full information.

  • Why do I get an e-mail every month telling me that my bill is ready?

We send this notification to everyone who subscribes to services covered in the online bill. You can choose to opt out of receiving these messages by visiting our Opt Out page.

Departmental Reports

  • Are NUBB charges included?

Not at this time. CIT plans to add products and services under this unified billing umbrella.

  • I'm having problems downloading reports.

We've had some technical issues since the print documents were distributed, and for that we apologize. You will find complete instructions for downloading a PDF report or downloading the Excel Export report on on our Outputs page.

  • What services are included?

See our list of services page.

  • Can I get information in real-time, for example, a call that was placed yesterday?

No. Billing and reporting still take place in monthly chunks, just like they always have.

  • I don't have a Reporting tab, so I can't get to any reports other than my own bill. Why?

See our Getting Access page.

  • I asked for a report for our entire department, but not all accounts showed up. Why not?

When you request output for a department (or Org. Code), you'll get the information for all the accounts in that department (or Org. Code) where you have been granted access through the access tool. If you believe you should be able to look at more accounts, check with your unit's finance or accounting office.

  • What browsers can I use?

Please see our Browsers page for full information.

  • Do we still need to collect signatures from people to verify that long distance calls were business related?

Policy 3.19, Telephone Usage, charges units to "Implement review procedures to identify patterns of abuse in which the university is paying for an individual’s personal use of a university telephone." It does not specify what those procedures should be. The implementation of online bills does not change in any way a unit's responsibility to comply with this policy.

  • I can't use the viewing tool. Will I be able to see my department's reports?

Access to the viewing tool is different from access to reports. Those who have access to the viewing management tool can grant others the ability to view reports. So the real question is, have I been granted access to the reports I need? We can't answer that question, since those rights are maintained by someone in your unit. Check with your unit's finance or accounting office to find out.

  • What is a "department subscriber?"

Some services are associated directly with an individual. For example, you'll see a charge for Ezra W. Erwin's telephone set, audix mailbox, and so on. Other services are not associated with an individual NetID, and will appear grouped together under the heading of Department Subscriber. Common examples are hall phones and data jacks in conference rooms.

  • Why can't I get a report for more than one month's data combined?

This ability is on the list of possible future enhancements. For now though, you can achieve a similar result by using the Export Format: Subscriber/Service Summary & Totals Report. Once you've downloaded the report you can combine several spreadsheets into one.

  • Why can’t I delete/change a person's access to various reports (it’s grayed out)?

If the Datasource column reads External Acct Mgr or External Read Only, it means that this person is listed in the accounting system that feeds this tool, and their access cannot be taken away through this tool. Contact your unit's accounting or finance office if you need more information.

If the Datasource column reads Viewing Tool, you'll find that the Admin Status Within Viewing Tool column has been set to Yes (meaning that this person has administrative rights to this account). You'll first need to change their Within Viewing Tool selection to No, then click Update, then change or delete their access.

  • Can I see all the rights for a particular NetID?

No, but we recognize that this would be a good thing. Given the way our data is stored, implementing this feature isn't feasible. We will continue to look for ways to release this feature in the future. For now, you can check (and change) access one department at a time.

  • How soon do changes made in this tool get reflected (in changes in access to reports) in the report viewing interface?

Updates take place overnight.

  • Why can't I get into the viewing management tool?

The tool can only be used by those who have been granted administrative access. If you believe you should be able to use this tool, but can't, contact your unit's finance or accounting office.

  • When I'm in the viewing tool I see people listed as "External," but when I go to Web Financials, I don't see them. Is this a problem?

Actually, no. It's related to the way Web Financial displays information about authorized users. In WF, you will only see listed those people who have the same or lower level access than you. Someone who has a higher level of access will see you, but you won't see them. But the viewing tool is different; everybody can see everybody. Clear as mud, right?

  • Why is this silly picture here at the bottom of this page? Don't you people take your work seriously?

We take our work very seriously. Team members from both the functional and technical sides of the house have put a lot of thought and effort into bringing the online bills service into production, and we hope it meets your needs. There's a link at the bottom of this and every other page if you'd like to share your comments, questions, or complaints with the team.

As for the bear, well, he's tired. But he's cute. Just like us. And, as Sydney Smith said, "Do not assume that because I am frivolous I am shallow; I don't assume that because you are grave you are profound." And, to quote Robert Frost, "I'm not confused, I'm just well mixed."
