New CIT RFS form coming Feb. 7

On Thursday, February 7, CIT replaced the Request for Service (RFS) web form used to order voice and data services from CIT Network & Communication Services.

This change is part of CIT's ongoing migration of services into the Remedy system for incident management and request tracking.

Key information you need to know about the new RFS form:

  1. Browser Requirements

To use the new RFS form, you will need Firefox or Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7). The form does not work correctly with Internet Explorer 6 (IE 6).

If your computer only has IE 6, please consult with your department's technical support staff as your first step. CIT recommends installing Firefox instead of upgrading to IE 7 because some of Cornell's administrative systems are not yet compatible with IE 7.

Guidance on installing Firefox can be found at http://traindoc.cit.cornell.edu/firefox/

  2. Changes in Look and Feel

The new RFS form collects the same information as the old form, and the way NCS handles requests will remain the same, except for a few small changes:

    • You will enter data on different "tabs" within the form.
    • Your NCS Case number will start with "INC" (an abbreviation for Incident) followed by a 12-digit number. Whether you contact NCS using the RFS form, or by e-mail, phone, or fax, your request will be assigned a Case number in that format.
    • The "From" address will change from "Network and Communication Services" to "Network-and-Communication-Services".
    • The URL for the NCS RFS form will stay the same, www.cit.cornell.edu/ncs/rfs, but you will initially see a browser check page before being automatically redirected to the new form. The browser check should only take a few seconds.
