Under Windows XP unable to detect any signal strength with wireless card

Problem: You are running Windows XP and are unable to detect any signal strength with your wireless card.

Solution:
Depending on which version of XP you are using, the way to get to this window is slightly different

  1. Click on Start | Control Panel
  2. Click on the “Network Connections” icon
  3. The following window will appear:


  4. On the left side of the window, click on the “Set up a home or small office network
  5. The following window will appear(If they don't have the option to the left, go to File | "Network Setup Wizard") :


  6. Click “Next


  7. Click “Next

  8. In “Select a connection method” window, select the first option and click “Next

  9. Click "Next".

  10. Select the “Wireless Network Connection” and click Next

  11. Enter a computer name and description and click “Next

  12. Click “Next

  13. Click "Next"
  14. Select “Just finish the wizard…” option and click “Next
  15. That should finish the process.
