Windows XP detects a signal but does not display rover under “Available Networks” and/or
You receive a 169.x.x.x IP address

Problem: Windows XP detects a signal but does not display rover under “Available Networks”. You receive a 169.x.x.x IP address.

Solution:

  1. Click on Start | Control Panel
  2. Double click on “Network and Internet Connections
  3. Double click on the “Network Connections” icon


  4. Double click on the “Wireless Network Connection” icon
  5. Then click on the “Advanced” button
  6. If you do not see “rover” listed under “Preferred Networks”, click on the “Add” button.

  7. Enter “rover” as the Network name and click OK.
  8. Click OK again in the next window
  9. Now, remove the wireless card from the laptop.
  10. Wait 10 seconds and re-insert.
