Wireless card detects a signal, but network does not work (Windows 2000)

Problem: My wireless card is detecting a signal, but I cannot access any network resources.

Solution:

This error occurs in Windows 2000 when your wireless card does not communicate on channel 6.

  1. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel and open up Network and Dial-Up Connections.
  2. Right Click on the Wireless connection and select Properties.
  3. Click on the Configure button that is below the listed Wireless card.
  4. Select the Advanced Tab.
  5. Make sure the value of SSID is set to "rover".
  6. Click on Channel and change the value to 6.

Windows Troubleshooting

Bear Access | SideCar/Kerberos | E-mail | Symantec AntiVirus
Network News | File Transfer Protocol | Telnet | JTF and COLTS

Dedicated Network Connections | Modem Dial-up Connections
