Individual Subscriptions

Individual subscriptions are for one person. An individual subscription enables you to use EZ-Remote whenever you like, provided a Cornell Campus Network modem is available at the time. Individual subscriptions cost $120/year, see the table above for billing details.

Group Subscriptions

These subscriptions are for departmental use only. This subscription allows a group of faculty and/or staff members to share EZ-Remote subscriptions. The group owner decides how many simultaneous modem connections ("connection privileges") to fund, based on how many members will want to use EZ-Remote at the same time; everyone who intends to use an EZ-Remote group subscription must be registered as a subscription member. The monthly department charge is $40.00 times the chosen maximum number of simultaneous connections.

A group subscription could result in substantial savings for your department, for example, a fifty-person group with three connection privileges would pay $120 per month. Individual subscriptions for fifty people would cost $500 a month. The group subscription saves $380 a month.

What Your EZ-Remote Fees Pay For

When you subscribe to EZ-Remote, your subscription dollars fund a large pool of high-speed modems and a technology infrastructure to make certain you have access to the Cornell Campus Network.

Still, it's impossible to guarantee that your modem won't ever get a busy signal during peak usage hours (Sunday-Thursday, 7 p.m.-2 a.m.). The Cornell networking community is large and growing. Note, too, that you may not always be able to connect at your modem's maximum speed. EZ-Remote usage is closely monitored, and your subscription dollars are invested in the high-speed modem infrastructure when demand warrants.
