Finding your IP Address in Windows 98/NT

Some networking problems can be caused by an incorrect IP address. You can obtain your current IP address by running the IP information program on your Windows machine.

  • In Windows 98 or Me
    1. Go to Start | Run
    2. Type winipcfg and click OK.
  • In Windows NT 4, 2000, or XP
    1. Go to Start | Run
    2. Type cmd and click OK.
    3. When the Command Prompt window comes up, type in, ipconfig.
