Error 630 : Hardware Failure
Problem:
This problem doesn’t necessarily mean that your modem is physically bad, but 630 is the only error generated
by the modem itself.
Solution:
- First, turn off the computer and the modem if it is external. It’s possible that there is a bad modem
memory stack and rebooting the computer will likely flush it. Reboot the computer and try to connect.
- If that doesn’t work, go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Modems -> Diagnostics and get More Info
from your modem. If it fails, your modem driver is corrupt and needs to be re-installed.
- If it works, go back to Modems -> General -> Properties -> Advanced and remove any initialization strings.
Try connecting again.
- If this fails, create a new Dial up connection using the same modem and try to connect with it.
- After you have tried all of these steps, if you are still getting error 630 then it is very likely that the
modem itself is physically damaged. Contact your modem’s manufacturer for more help regarding the problem.
