What is MacBinary II+ or BinHex?

Problem: I downloaded a file and I need MacBinary II+ or BinHex to use it.

Solution:

All MacBinary and BinHex files (typically .bin and .hqx files, respectively) are encoded so that they can be transferred over the internet and continue to be usable on your Macintosh. You can decode them by using Stuffit Expander which is available in Bear Access or for download from Aladdin Systems. If you have Bear Access, Stuffit Expander is located in your Hard Drive in the Bear Access folder in the Stuffit Expander folder. Once it is open, choose "Expand" from the "File" menu and navigate to the file you downloaded and expand it.
