AUDIX Notification Mailing List
Mainframe AUDIX Bulletin Board
The Network
Operations Center provides several ways for support providers to
ascertain the status of the Cornell Campus voice and data infrastructure
including the network backbone, the telephone switches, mainframe computing
systems and critical campus services.
AUDIX Notification Mailing
List
This mailing list is for support providers only. Subscribers receive
AUDIX messages from the Network Operations Center (NOC) when there are
significant outages to report. The NOC reports outages that affect both
the data and voice networks. The advantage of being on this list as
well as net-announce-l
is that you will receive notifications about data network outages, even
when the data network is down, since this is a voice-based mailing list.
Since there is a limit to the number of people who can be subscribed,
the NOC asks that units select one individual who is willing to receive
the messages and notify other interested parties within the unit. If you
are interested in being subscribed to the AUDIX list, please send the following
information to CIT-downtime-mailbox@cornell.edu
- Your name
- Your title
- The department you'll be representing
- Your NetID
- Your telephone extension (you must have AUDIX to receive these notifications)
After your request is received, a NOC representative may call you to
verify that you should be on the list.
Mainframe AUDIX Bulletin Board
Technology support professionals and members of the user community may
call 255-6424 to ascertain the status of Cornell's mainframe systems.
An AUDIX message indicates scheduled tests, future known downtimes, and
the types of jobs that are running. Priority 4 jobs, intensive computing
jobs run after most of the user community has finished working for the
day, normally begin at 4:30. The same status information is available via
logon messages on mainframe systems.
