Access to computers

Many faculty and staff members at Cornell need to use personal computers to conduct daily business; to communicate with students, other staff, and other faculty; and to collaborate with distant colleagues.

Selecting and purchasing computers

If you need to arrange access to a computer, here are some options:

Using CIT Computer Labs and kiosks

  • CIT Public Computing Labs are open to all members of the Cornell community. Although they are most heavily used by students, these labs may be useful to non-office staff who need a computer only occasionally.

  • Some business can be conducted from walk-up kiosk computers in libraries, Day Hall, Malott Hall, CCC, and other locations.

Repairing computers

  • The Technology Connection web site has contact information for the Computing Center, Cornell's repair service provider.

Backing up computers

  • Your department may have a local system for backing up computers. CIT also offers a backup service called EZ-Backup.
