Antivirus: Macintosh: Download and Install
Antivirus software scans your computer for viruses and other malicious software and can help remove or contain threats.
CIT supports Symantec Endpoint Security antivirus software (Windows) and Norton AntiVirus software (Macintosh). This software is free to faculty, students, Cornell University employees, and affiliates who use computer equipment owned by the university.

Caution: Multiple versions of antivirus software are not designed to coexist on a system. If you have other antivirus software installed, manually remove it before installing the new version. Instructions are on the Antivirus: Macintosh: Uninstall page.
Download Norton Antivirus from uPortal.Cornell
- Log in to uPortal.Cornell.
- Click the Bear Access tab.
- In the Protect My Computer folder, click Norton Antivirus 11, Macintosh.

Download Norton Antivirus from the file server
- Download Norton Antivirus.
- Double-click the DMG file to start the installer.
Install
- If necessary, double the Norton AntivirusCorp.English.mkpg icon.
- In the Welcome window, click Continue.
- In the ReadMe window, click Continue.
- In the License Agreement window, click Continue, and then click Agree.
- Click the disk where you want to install the application, and then click Continue.

- In the Easy Install window, click Install or Upgrade.
- In the Authenticate window enter the user name and password for your computer, and then click OK. (This is the password you use for the computer, not your NetID.)
- A drop-down box warns that you will need to restart your computer when the installation is complete. Click Continue Installation.
- The installation takes a few minutes. When it is finished, you'll see a message asking if you want to run LiveUpdate. Click Yes.
- When the updates are finished, in the Installation Successful window, click Restart.

Norton AntiVirus is now installed on your computer. Continue with the steps to Schedule Scans to be sure your computer is protected.
