Mobile Devices at Cornell

If you have a mobile device, such as a Palm or Treo, you may be able to use some Cornell services on your device. Because there are so many different devices, CIT may not be able to offer detailed help with your device. See the table below for:

  • Devices that CIT has tested.
  • Software that might be needed to use those devices with Oracle Calendar and e-mail at Cornell.
  • Links to current support information (where applicable).

CIT supports the following protocols:

  • SyncML for Oracle Calendar.
  • IMAP/POP and SMTP for E-mail.
  • SSL or Kerberos for E-mail authentication.
  • Proprietary Microsoft protocols for Exchange E-mail/Calendar.

Note: Due to limitations in the client applications, not all devices that include a web browser and/or email client will work successfully in the Cornell environment. (For example, the browser in the iPhone is far more capable than the normal mobile device browser application. Some applications may require additional fees.
