May 18 computing services outage (posted 5/6/08)

For 15 minutes, 7-7:15 a.m., on Sunday, May 18, many central computing services will be unavailable.

Affected services include e-mail, the Cornell University web site (www.cornell.edu), Cornell University Library online services, CUinfo, Blackboard, the Electronic Directory, Cornell mailing lists, PeopleSoft, and many others.

In addition, 8 buildings will not have access to the Internet or the campus networks during this 15-minute outage: 301 and 312 College Avenue; Duffield Hall; Rhodes Hall, Phillips Hall - Submicron Complex; Schuyler House; Seneca Place; and Upson Hall.

This brief outage is necessary so that Cornell Information Technologies can upgrade router software.

During the outage, concerns or questions can be directed to 255-9900, and the status of the outage can be checked online.

Computing services unavailable for 15 minutes during May 18 shutdown
(7:00-7:15 a.m.)

This list represents many, but not necessarily, all of the services that will be affected.

  • E-mail services, including Eudora, Thunderbird, WebMail, and
  • uPortal.Cornell E-mail (all mail will be delivered when outage is over)
