Labels in Thunderbird
Labels provide a way to highlight your messages in various ways, to
serve as a visual cue of a message's status, or action you need to take.
You can apply labels manually, or use filters to have them applied automatically
based on rules you set up. (How do I use filters?)
|
Thunderbird has five labels, as illustrated here. You can use
them as is, or personalize the colors and/or the text.
To apply a label manually, highlight the message you want to
label in your Inbox or other folder, then, from Thunderbird's
Message menu select Label and pick the appropriate
label. You can also right-click on a message and select Label
from the drop-down menu that appears.
If you've configured your folders to display the Label column,
you can sort by this column to get a quick look at all your Important
messages, all your To Do messages, and so on. (How
do I set which columns are displayed?)

Modifying Labels
|
From Thunderbird's Tools menu, select Options.
(Macintosh users: from the Thunderbird menu, select Preferences)
Click the Display icon, then the Labels tab.
You can replace the text for any label, and you can change the
color associated with any label by clicking on the color swatch
and choosing a new color.
(The current version of Thunderbird has a limit of five labels.)
