Rules used to Identify Probable Spam
PureMessage looks through each message for a large number of clues that indicate spam. The more clues found, the higher the probability that the message is actually spam. See our How We Label Spam page for more information on how PureMessage flags these messages, and tips on how you can automatically filter them out. We can't tell you exactly what the rules are, because it's a secret. We don't want the spammers to know how to circumvent them!
If you find that messages you are sending (especially messages like newsletters or memos that go to groups of people) are getting labeled as spam, look through your format for phrases or links that may be confusing PureMessage.
If an e-mail newsletter or other mailing needed by several people is being mistakenly labeled as spam, please write to the e-mail system administrators, virus-spam-mgr@cornell.edu, to request that the filters on the central mail servers be modified to accommodate your needs.
