Using POP3 on Mac OS 8/Mac OS 9 on NEW Mail Servers

Problem: I am using Eudora on Mac OS 8/ Mac OS 9 on the NEW mail servers, and I wish to keep using POP3 instead of IMAP.

Solution:

Eudora 5.2.1 fixes the problem with Kerberos 5 and POP3 that Eudora 5.2 for Mac OS 9 exhibited. As a result, the user will be able to access the new postoffice servers with POP3.

The service for Bear Access Updates & Extras is in the process of being built. If you have an urgent need for this version, please contact the CIT HelpDesk to get the correct referral to receive a preliminary installer and the instructions to change your mail configurations accordingly.

If you are using the NEW postoffice servers 8 & 9, follow these steps:

1. In the Kerberos settings pane, make sure "Use Kerberos" and "Use Kerberos V/GSSAPI for POP3" are checked.
2. Set the Port number to 110
3. Set Realm to CIT.CORNELL.EDU
4. Set Service Name to POP
5. Set Service Format to ^0.^3@^2
