Eudora will not send mail and I am using a computer located off-campus connected to a non-Cornell ISP

Problem: Eudora will not send mail unless I check my mail first. I am not using a computer on-campus.

Solution:

Cornell's SMTP servers do not allow a person to send mail from an off-campus location unless the user checks their mail first.

If you are using Earthlink as your Interent Service Provider, Earthlink Technical Support provides documentation for this problem here. It is due to their port blocking policy to control spam mail within their systems.

If you are using another Internet Service Provider, try changing your outgoing (SMTP) mail server for your Cornell email account to your Internet Service Provider's mail server. If you do not know what your Internet Service Provider's mail server is, contact their Technical Support Center for further assistance.
