Problem:
How do I transfer a mailbox or address book between computers?
Solution:
If you are transferring from PC to Macintosh, go here.
If you are transferring from Macintosh to PC, go here.
1. First you must locate the mailbox or address book that
you wish to transfer between computers. Eudora's mailboxes and
address books are located in a folder called "Eudora Folder."
This folder can be found in one of two places:
If you are using OS 9 or earlier without multiple users, "Eudora folder" will be in the "Documents" folder in your harddrive.
If you are using Mac OS X or 9 with multiple users, "Eudora folder" will be in the "Documents" folder in your User folder.
2. Once found, open "Eudora folder." Your mailboxes can be found in the "Mail Folder" and your address book
can be found in the "Eudora folder" as the file "nicknames."
3. Transfer the files to your target computer:
Transfer on disk
Save the files you wish to transfer to a disk and copy them to the target computer in the same directories.
As an attachment
Duplicate the files you wish to transfer and move the new copies to a new folder. Use "dropstuff"
to compress the folder into a .sit file. Attach the compressed .sit file to an email to yourself.
You can then check your mail at the target computer and download the attachment.
4. To complete the process copy the transfered files to the "Eudora folder" of the target computer. Make sure
the mailbox files are placed the "Mail Folder." (Be careful that you don't replace the In and Out mailboxes
on the target computer if you wish to save them.)
