Problem: When I install the Mac OS X native version of Eudora,
I lose all the emails and settings I had before.
Solution:
The Eudora settings and mailboxes are stored in a different
location in Mac OS X. If you want to use your old settings in
mailboxes, there are three different ways to do so.
Before you try any of the three options, make sure no version
of Eudora is running.
These are the three ways:
1. You can move the original settings and mailboxes to the correct
location.
The settings and mailboxes for the Mac OS 9 version of Eudora
are held in a folder called “Eudora Folder.”
It should be located in two possible locations: either in the
Documents folder on the first level of your hard drive, or inside
the Mac OS 9 System Folder.
Move “Eudora Folder,” whereever you find it, into
the Documents folder found in your home directory. Which you can
get to either by clicking on the Home icon in any Finder window
or by going to /Users/(Your User Name)/Documents.
2. You can copy the old Eudora Folder into the proper location.
The settings and mailboxes for the Mac OS 9 version of Eudora
are held in a folder called “Eudora Folder.”
It should be located in two possible locations: either in the
Documents folder on the first level of your hard drive, or inside
the Mac OS 9 System Folder.
Once you find it, highlight it by clicking it on it once, then
go to the Edit menu and choose “Copy.” Then go to
the proper location which is the Documents folder inside your
home directory. Which you can get to either by clicking on the
Home icon in any Finder window or by going to /Users/(Your User
Name)/Documents. Once you are in this documents folder, go to
the Edit menu and choose “Paste.”
3. Have an alias to your old settings folder which allows you
to share settings and mailboxes for both the Mac OS 9 and the
Mac OS X version of Eudora.
The settings and mailboxes for the Mac OS 9 version of Eudora
are held in a folder called “Eudora Folder.”
It should be located in two possible locations: either in the
Documents folder on the first level of your hard drive, or inside
the Mac OS 9 System Folder.
Once you find it, highlight it by clicking it on it once, then
go to the File menu and choose “Make Alias” then move
the alias to proper location which is the Documents folder in
the home directory. Which you can get to either by clicking on
the Home icon in any Finder window or by going to /Users/(Your
User Name)/Documents. Then rename the alias “Eudora Folder”.
Once you have follow one of the above three steps, relaunch Eudora
and your old settings and mailboxes should now be recognized.
