TLS & Macintosh Keychains
With Eudora
This page applies only to:
-
Eudora 5.2 or higher
-
Set to use TLS (also known as SSL) for security
-
Macintosh computers
For more information about TLS, please see our TLS
for Secure Login page. This page has instructions for setting
up a Macintosh Keychain, necessary for TLS to function properly.
- Under the Apple Menu, select Control Panels.

- If you see Keychain Access on the list, skip to step #4.
If Keychain Access is not on the list of Control Panels, continue
with step #3.
- Navigate to your System Folder. Inside it you should find
two folders labelled Control Panels and Control Panels (Disabled).
Open the Control Panels (Disabled) folder. Inside it you should
find a file called Keychain Access. Drag this file into the
Control Panels folder.
- Under the Apple Menu, select Control Panels, then
select Keychain Access. A Keychain List window will open.

If there is at least one keychain listed, you are all set. If there
are no keychains listed, continue with step #5.
- In the Keychain List window, click the New button. A Create
Keychain window will open.

The entries you put here are not important (the keychain needs to
exist, but Eudora and TLS don't care what it's called). When you've
filled in all three fields, click the Create button.
- A window for the keychain will open; close it down without doing
anything in it.You will see the keychain you just created in the Keychain
List window.
- You're all set. Close the Keychain List window.
