There are times when you will need to create a plain text file (for example, for importing a list of subscribers' e-mail addresses into Lyris). There are many ways to accomplish this, but here are two of the simplest.
- Use a plain-text editor. For example,
- Windows: Notepad (usually found by navigating as follows: Start Menu - All Programs - Applications)
- Macintosh: TextEdit (usually found by navigating as follows: Finder - My Computer - Applications)
- Use any word processor and save your file as plain text. For example,
- Windows/Microsoft Word example: choose Save As from the File menu. At the bottom of the Save As dialog box, select Plain text (*.txt) from the Save as type... drop-down list.
- Macintosh/Microsoft Word example: choose Save As from the File menu. In the dialog box, select MS-DOS text from the Format drop-down list.
