Lyris Web Interface
(for E-list Administrators)

Lyris lets e-list administrators work with their lists either by sending commands in e-mail messages or through a web interface.

This page links to specific instructions on the kinds of things you may need to do to maintain your list.

We should mention that Lyris ListManager has optional capabilities that extend beyond the functionality CIT is suppporting. As you navigate through the web interface, you'll find many sections that are not documented here, things like sales, surveys, and results. Many of these are features we chose not to purchase. Others may be functional, but if you mess with them, you're on your own!

Logging In

When you point your browser to the Lyris Administrator interface ( https://www.list.cornell.edu:9443 ), you'll see a login window. The exact appearance of the window depends on which browser and which platform you've using. Here are some examples:

For User Name (or Name), enter the e-mail address you use as list administrator, typically NetID@cornell.edu

Be sure to include @cornell.edu !

For Password, enter the password you use as list administrator.

The way passwords are assigned and used is one of the ways that Lyris greatly differs from ListProc (our old system). We've put together a page discussing the specifics of Lyris passwords.

When you enter this information and click OK (or Log In), you'll be taken to the Lyris ListManager administrator interface. If you have administrative privileges for more than one list, you may see a screen showing all of your lists. Click on the name of the list you want to administer now.

See the topics listed to the right (on this page) for information on navigating and using the web interface.

Logging Out, Changing Lists, or Changing Login

When you have logged in, you will be taken to the Lyris ListManager Home screen. Most of your work will take place on the tabs (Home, Members, Utilities, etc.), but hiding in the upper right corner are the tools for logging out, changing which list you're working with, or logging in as a different user.

If you are using a public computer, be sure to log out and completely exit your browser before leaving the computer. If you do not log out, it is possible that the next user will be able to access the Lyris administrator interface without typing in your password.

Logging Out

  1. Click on your login address (next to Login)
  2. Click on Log Out
  3. Close your browser

Changing Lists

  1. Click on the list name
  2. You will see a screen showing all the lists for which you have administrative rights.
  3. Click on the name of the list you want to administer now.

Changing Login

Some list administrators will use different e-mail addresses as their login for different lists. Changing to a different user is a streamlined version of logging out and then logging back in.

  1. Click on your login address (next to Login)
  2. Click on Change Login
  3. You will be logged out of the list you were working on, and prompted to log in.
