Using Oracle Calendar Sync 10.1 on Your Palm Device

You can use Oracle Calendar Sync to synchronize your Oracle Calendar agenda, to-do items, and address book with your Palm device.

Installing Oracle Calendar Sync v10.1

  1. You must have Palm Desktop installed on your Windows computer.
  2. Download the Oracle Calendar Sync installer to your computer. Make a note of the location to which you've downloaded the installer.
  3. If you have Oracle Calendar open, you must exit the program.
  4. After it has downloaded, locate the installer, cal_syncpalm_win_1012.exe, and double-click the file to open it.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  6. At the Synchronization Settings window (see illustration below):
    1. Enter your name and password in the appropriate boxes.
    2. In the Server box enter calendar.cornell.edu.
    3. Enter your Node based on the chart below:

    If you are in... Select Node...
    Campus Life

    1706 or campuslife

    Cooperative Extension

    1704 or extension

    Human Ecology

    1030 or che-ct

    All others

    1701 or campus
    1801 or campus2
    contact your technical support provider to find out which node you should use.

  7. An important setting is under Rules. Click Rules.
  8. In the Rules window (see illustration below), you can set what happens when you modify an item that exists on both the server and your Palm device:
    1. Replace mobile device item with calendar server item - this setting selects the event information on the server as the most current information and will update the event on the mobile device.
      OR
    2. Replace calendar server item with mobile device item - this setting selects the event information on the mobile device as the most current information and will update the event on the server.

    Note: You can change these settings at any time.

  9. When you have selected the settings that are appropriate for you, click OK and then Finish.

  10. When you are asked to restart, do so. After restarting, return to this page and continue with the next section.

Connecting Your Palm Device to Your Oracle Calendar Information

  1. Connect your Palm device to your computer.
  2. Open the HotSync manager by clicking the HotSync icon HotSync icon in your computer's toolbar.

  3. From the menu displayed, select Custom (see illustration below).

  4. Select Date Book (Oracle Calendar Sync) and click Change.

  5. The next window displays the synchronization options available to you (see illustration below). Select an option and then click Settings.

  6. Select the settings that best suit your needs and click OK.
  7. Repeat steps 4 to 6 for the To Do List and Address Book functions.
  8. When you have finished your settings selections, click Done.
  9. Your Palm device now contains your Oracle Calendar information.
