Campus Calendar Server Clean-up Begins January 8, 2007

Cornell Information Technologies (CIT) has prepared a plan for removing both historical data from Oracle Calendar accounts and unused accounts from the server.

We are now ready to begin this process, which will take approximately 6 weeks to accomplish.

Oracle Calendar is a university-funded central calendaring service and is available to all Cornell colleges and units at no charge.

The first step in the process will take place on January 27, 2007. On that date, we will disable all calendar accounts that have not been accessed in the past 12 months (since January 1, 2006). A notification will be sent to the e-mail address associated with each account. The recipients will be notified of our plan both to disable their account in 2 weeks and delete it in 6 weeks.

Once the account cleanup is complete, we will begin the process of purging historical data from the remaining accounts. All historical data prior to January 1, 2005, will be deleted from all calendar accounts. We will not retain historical data on our Oracle Calendar server.

If you, however, would like to archive your historical data, visit http://www.cit.cornell.edu/calendar/, which documents a procedure for exporting your calendar data in the Quick Links section.
