Bear Access: Services
The Bear Access channel on uPortal.Cornell provides easy access to online services. Most services are available online through the portal; some services and applications require downloading and installation.
If you have not already installed a service, expand the Installers folder and download and run the installer associated with the service you want to use.
The fall 2008 Bear Access release requires:
- Mac OS 10.4 or higher
- Windows XP SP2 or higher
Mail and Directory Services
Email: Cornell offers three options for sending and receiving email.
- Thunderbird Mail
- WebMail
- Eudora mail (available to install only through uPortal)
Who I Am: Update your directory listing and set your preferred e-mail address.
Change Password: Set a secure NetID password.
Directory Search: Look up an e-mail address, phone number, or campus address in Cornell's directory.
Library and Research Tools
Library Gateway: Cornell library home page.
RefWorks: A database and bibliography tool.
Employee Services
Employee Essentials: Faculty and staff only. View your personal, employment, benefits, and payroll information.
Colts III: Student employees, nonexempt staff, and supervisors only. Use Cornell's On-Line Timecard System as an employee to record your work hours, or as a supervisor to approve hours recorded by your employees.

Network Tools
Cornell Log Download: Track your network traffic using this tool.
FTP Client: Move files between your personal computer and other computers (often called servers) using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP). This tool is especially useful if you maintain a Web site.
News Reader: Read and post messages electronically on Usenet, a worldwide electronic bulletin board that has discussion groups on thousands of topics. Among Cornell's most popular local groups are cornell.marketplace and cornell.rides.
Campus Hosts
Telnet: Access your accounts on Cornell's multi-user host computers, for example CornellC.
Student Services (Students only)
Just the Facts: Check your grades, course schedule, courses, classes, exams, financial aid information, and bursar and CornellCard accounts.
Classes Exams: Schedule of courses, classes, and exams.
Student Employment Services: Information about working at Cornell.
CoursEnroll: Manage your course enrollments: add, drop, and pre-enroll in classes.
CoursEnroll Feedback: Provide feedback for CoursEnroll.
Career Services: Career services for students, alumni, employers, faculty, and family.
Order a Transcript: Order your transcript.
net.Pay: Pay a bursar bill online.
Certification of Enrollment: Check your enrollment status.
Student Jobs and Internships: Postings of jobs and internships for students.
Course Technology Info: List of many course websites.
Student Tech Training: Computer and technology classes and tutorials available to students.
Faculty Services (Faculty only)
Faculty Advisor Info: Information about the Faculty Advisor tool.
Faculty Advisor: Use Faculty Advisor to view the grades, test scores, course schedules, addresses, and graduate information of the students you advise. Review and approve your students' course choices during course pre-enrollment.
Course Tech Info: List of many course websites.
Electronic Class Lists: Link to the college registrar directory. Contact the registrar for class lists.
My Accounts
ResNet Signup: Sign-up for ResNet, Cornell's fee-based Ethernet connection for residence halls.
EZ-Remote: Cornell's dial-up service.
Net-Print Account: Use Net-Print to send your documents over the campus network to laser printers located in CIT Public Labs and elsewhere. A fee is charged.
NUBB: Cornell's network usage billing system.
CUTV Subscription: Cable television programming delivered through your data network connection (to a Windows computer or television).
Telephone and Network Bills and Reports: View your bills online.
Manage Bills and Report Access Rights: Administrators only. Manage bill viewing access rights online.
Cornell Store
The Cornell Store: The Cornell Store home page.
Course Materials: Lists of course materials. Faculty and departments can submit orders online.
The Technology Connection: Order computers and software priced with the academic discont.
Digital Services: Cost-effective, high-quality copying and digital color printing services for university departments and individuals. Scanning and storage are also available.
Cornell Travel Office: Cornell's travel office.
Training
Technology Training: Training offered by CIT.
Register for a Class: Register for classes offered on campus including CIT, project management, and Human Resources.
Student Technology Training: Classes and tutorials available to students on computer and technology topics.
SkillSoft Online Tutorials: Online tutorials on technology topics.
Academic Technology Center: Provides access to state-of-the-art hardware, software, and other multi-media equipment for faculty and instructors to prepare course materials, or to develop an instructional technology project for a course.

Bear Access no longer automatically updates services. When updates are available, the installers are in the Installers folder in Bear Access. You can run them as needed for your computer.
