Requesting Additional Newsgroups

If you are certain that you have an up-to-date copy of the full newsgroup list from CIT's news server, but you do not see a group which you know exists, you may request that it be added to CIT's news server. Before you submit a request, please wait a day or two for the group to propagate through the network to CIT's server if the group has recently been created. Requests that CIT offer previously unavailable newsgroups may be submitted to newsmgr@cornell.edu. Please allow a day or two for the staff who monitor this e-mail address to respond to your request.

Creating New Newsgroups

If you want to create a new Cornell-specific newsgroup, e-mail requests to newsmgr@cornell.edu. Include in your request a description of what purpose the new group will serve. If approved, CIT staff will then work with you to create a name for the new group. Please allow a day or two for the staff who monitor this e-mail address to respond to your request. Cornell newsgroups can only be read and posted to by members of the Cornell community with valid NetIDs.
