"The version control server does not have information for service 'abstract.browser' in operating system X"

Problem: When attempting to start a Web-based service in Bear Access, the above error message appears. This happens when the browser preference is not defined, or the preferred browser no longer exists.

Solution: Open the Project SALSA Preferences dialog box and select a browser to use.

  1. In Bear Access, click Edit | Project SALSA Preferences...
  2. Click on the Browser tab.
  3. Select a new option from the "Web Browser:" list. If the option you want is already selected, select a different option temporarily, click the Save Changes button, then select the option you want again.
  4. Click the Save Changes button.
  5. Click Done.
  6. Click Edit | Reload Packages.
